We are moved in and warm! I only have a few pictures, Sorry! The Moose lives around our place this was the third time that we have seen him, though I'm pretty sure he has seen us many times!
Christmas was cozy in our little cabin we went out and cut down a 'charlie brown' Christmas tree. It was so cute! I would show you a picture but my morning face has spoiled every one! Darn!=)
I have found a job! I'm am working at the Petco Grooming Salon as a brusher/ bather. in other words I get to hold the dog so the groomer doesn't get bit! I am enjoying it though!
New Years Eve we went out in -45o weather to watch fireworks. Well the fam did, I stayed in the heated car. I was complaining about the 4 below out house... Bring it! This 40 below stuff stinks!
The air is so cold that you can throw a glass of hot water into the air and what doesn't evaporate freezes instantly. The car lines freeze if you don't start it every 4-6 hours and let it run for a while.
We live up in the borough (the hills) so our 40 below means that it could be 50 to 60 below in Fairbanks. I knew that it would be cold and its going to take some getting used to, but the beauty is amazing! The sharp cold turns every crystal into wonderful prisms.
Life is good, and getting better! Love to everyone back home.

A home!!

Hello to all my faithful followers!!!
We are settled in our new home. *sigh* It feels so nice to spread out! The Cabin is much smaller than our old house, but it is SO much bigger than a hotel room. Dad passed his State test and is now a licenced Electrician for the state of Alaska!! Our life here is starting to pull together, many strings are being tied down!
Thank you for your prayers and support for our family in this time. It has meant alot to all of us to know that we had the support of friends and family in Iowa!
We don't have Internet at the house yet so it could be a while before Emails get answered, or this blog gets updated. For now know that we are safe and warm! Our love to all of you!

A new home

Camera + Dogs (or a unwilling sibling) - a Cat = Boredom Buster!

I haven't blogged in a while, Sorry! I just didn't think that anyone would think that hotel life would be worth reading about. The past three weeks have been spent in hotel rooms. To be honest we all are ready to spread out! Moriah has stolen my camera many times much to Rose's despair. No one is safe from her flash and shutter happy finger! Here are some pictures that she took. The Girls!^

< Rose asking for no more pictures!

Sarah (I like this one) >

We have been looking for a House and Dad has been looking for a job. He still needs to take the test to get his electricians licence for the state of Alaska. He is signed up to do that on Wednesday. Dad and I will be going back to Anchorage on Monday or Tuesday so he can test.
We found a house to rent in Fairbanks. (Pictures on the side) I saw it in the dark so there are no outside pictures but it is your standard cabin with blue trim. It is brand new, we are the first tenants. It has three bedrooms there are two upstairs with a small landing. Downstairs is a bedroom and the kitchen, living and dinning room are all open to each other. It has electricity and water, more than we thought that we'd get! We move in tomorrow!

I know that this is short but I don't have anything else interesting to wright! There is not much to do in a motel! Unless your a TV junkie, even then it still gets boring! The other day I watched a movie on YouTube, and that is the height of entertainment unless you want to count Hannah Montana. Did you know that Disney Chanel runs the same 8 shows in a continuous loop? Its True!! They show the same shows three times a day! Unless its a marathon, then they just show the same show for five hours. Talk about brain washing our youth!
Now Audrey can stop bugging me, I've updated my blog. Stay warm and be thankful for the sun!

Tok, Alaska!

ALASKA!!!
Blogger is haveing trouble up loading pictures again so look on the side for more mounians! ->

Alaska Ho!! We are in Tok!
We did another cold out house! This one was 8 below I don't care if its a dry -8 it still cold! We stopped to get gas and have a bathroom break, but the 'washrooms' (thats what their called up here) were out of order. In other words they where frozen! So the lady sent us “Up the road about ¼ kilometer is an outie that you can use.” BRR! If her bathrooms are frozen what did she think the out house is?!?!?!? The wind really doesn't blow so it doesn't feel so cold.
The border went smoothly nobody had to get out of the car. It feels good to be in the U.S. again!
The road goes in patches, it'll be clean and then covered in ice. There are frost heaves every where on the road. Giving you the feeling of riding a bucking horse, not only do we have to bump over in the Sub but then the trailer goes over and we bump again.
Enjoy the Pictures this is what I've got to look at for the past three days.-> -> ->
This morning we were driving past a lake surrounded by mountains. We where listing to Selah sing How Great Thou Art and the song took on a whole new meaning for me. The writer had to have been looking at a scene like that in order to have written that powerful song.

Whitehorse, Yukon

Here we are in Whitehorse, a long drive but not as nerve racking as yesterday. We actually saw pavement and yellow lines for the last hour. Not that the roads where any better. Thank God for four wheel drive otherwise we still might be in Dawson creek.
Not as much wild life today, we saw a few Caribou and a red fox.
I'm ready to be in Alaska and be settled in, eight days is a lllooonnnggg drive. I have to say though it has gone by really quickly. We were doing The Book Audrey gave us and I had to double check and make sure that we had been on the road for eight days.
Most of the hotels have been very nice and clean. The one that we are in now has a restaurant in it! The only place to get the Internet is in the lobby that also serves as an entrance to the restaurant, and I can smell food. I just ate a wonderful supper and I'm hungry!
The dogs have settled into the cramped courters. In the morning when all of our bags are packed and the Cat goes in her crate, the dogs start to whine and talk. Then when we get back to the car they jump in almost before we are ready for them to. Mac's tail has been shut in the door so many times that the fur is falling off and he looks really funny! He seems to know it though and the once curly tail is now hidden under the hotel desk or between his legs. Aleika got loose today and decided to explore the parking lot while playing a game of chace with all the kids! She came to me though when I called her and now is intrusted to no one but Dad.
Father has been doing all of the driving thus far, and he has been doing a masterful job at it! I think that I speek for all of us when I say, we feel perfectly safe in the "mini blizzards."
All of the semis up here pull two trailers behind them and drive about 100 MPH. I think that they are all Americans and forget that the 100 on the speed limit sign is not miles per hour but kilometers per hour.
We should be in Alaska by tomorrow.
